Genus

Genus is defined in Katmandoo as a taxonomic category ranking below a family and above species and generally consisting of a group of species exhibiting similar characteristics. (Reference: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/genus).

Granting Permission to use Genotypes of Genus

Column Name	Description
GenusId (PK)	Identity number that uniquely identifies a genus.
GenusName (AK)	Name that uniquely identifies a Genus

• Genotype tab in the Data Dictionary has detailed information on the columuns used in Genus table.

Use [ Task > Genotype > Manage Genus ] to load all the genus in the database.

Note: The "Genus" word is replaced by the Genus Caption in the forms and menus.

   • Use [ View > Arrange columns in Main Form ] to change default order of displayed. Alternately it can be changed by editing the column list of the Misc Group GenusSetupDataGrid.

3. System Groups that are granted permission to the selected genus (ie Bread Wheat in the snapshot).

To add/edit a genus, follow the steps below :

• Select a genus in the genus main form to modify. 
• Use [ Record > Add Genus ] or [ Record > Edit Genus ] or [ Record > Repeat Genus ] to load the Genus Setup Form to add/edit a genus.

1. Genus name is disabled as the genus has dependant data. Click here for information on editing restricted value.
2. Select a role from the list to grant the permission to all the System Groups of all the Sub-system to the genus.

To delete all the genotypes of a genus, follow the steps below :

• Select a genus in the genus main form to delete. 
• Use [ Record > Delete ALL the genotypes of selected Genus ] to delete all the genotypes of the selected Genus. 
  • Note: if any genotype of the genus has been used in a trial or has Genotype AOV Mean or has EGV data then the delete process will fail!

Export

• Click on Export button in the main form or use [ Record > Export > Export Genus ] to start Export Wizard to export displayed genus. 

Import

• Click on Import button in the main form or use [ Record > Import > Import Genus ] to start Import Wizard to import genus from an external source file.
  
  • The default order of columns displayed can be changed by editing the column list of the Misc Group GenusSetupDataGrid.
