This option in Import Genotype Wizard can be used to update Genotype Name and Selection
History using the GenotypeId as in the source file.
It is useful to bulk-correct genotype in an external file and then update those
changes into database because once a genotype is saved into database, its Genotype
Name and Selection History can not be changed.
This wizard can be activated using [ Task > Genotype >
Manage Genotype > Record >
Import Genotype
].
It has following options:
The first page of the import wizard changes as per the selected option (above) but
the second page is same for all the options.
Update EXISTING Genotype Name and Selection
History using GenotypeId (auto-number)
This option can be used to bulk-update Genotype name and Selection History using
GenotypeId.
It is strongly recommended
to follow the procedures below to use this option.
Backup! Backup! Backup! Export all the data of all the genotypes to an Excel
spreadsheet.
- Export GenotypeId, GenotypeName and Selection History ONLY of selected genotypes
to a file (eg FixGenotypeName.xls).
- Make any required changes in the exported file (FixGenotypeName.xls).
- Important Note: The first 2 characters of the Genotype name must not be
changed (in the source file) as it is used by the import wizard to avoid any conflicting
situations.
- Run Import Genotype wizard, select this option (Update EXISTING Genotype Name...)
and select the file (FixGenotypeName.xls)
- Preview and save into database.
- What does it acutally do? It replaces genotype name and selection history by finding
the matching record using GenotypeId.
Illustrative snapshot:
- Select the [ To Update EXISTING Genotype Name and Selection History ] option.
- Select source
file to import Genotype.
- Map column names used
in spreadsheet with column names of the database (GenotypeId, GenotypeName and SelectionHistory
only are mapped in this option).
The default order of columns displayed can be changed by
editing the column list of the Misc Group GenotypeSetupDataGrid.
