Import Trait Wizard can be used to import Traits as well as their validation rules.

This wizard can be activated using [ Task > System >
Manage Trait > Record >
Import Trait
].
It has following options:
The first page of the import wizard changes as per the selected option (above) but
the second page is same for all the options.
Import Traits
This option can be used to import Location from the source file.
Illustrative snapshot:
- Select the [ Import Traits ] option.
- Select source
file to import Traits.
- Map column names used
in spreadsheet with column name of the database.
When [ Save Trait into database ] is clicked after
[ Preview ], following messages may appear:
Suggestion: If the aliases in the source
file are separated by comma, then click on [ Yes ] otherwise Click [ No ] and correct
the alias separator in the source file
- Insert Empty/Blank Validation Rules for Imported Virtual Column (this message will
appear only when the source file does not have TraitValRule column).
Suggestion: If the source file does NOT
have validation rule for any column, click on [ Yes ] which instruct Katmandoo
to insert blank/empty validation rules for the imported Traits for all the Sub-systems
in the database.
Import Validation Rule of Traits for one or
more Sub-system
This option can be used to import Validation Rule of Traits for one or more Sub-system
from the source file.
Illustrative snapshot:
- Select the [ Import Validation Rule of Traits for one or more Sub-system ] option.
- Select source
file to import Validation Rule of Traits.
- To ensure that the validation rules being imported also validate existing data,
tick this checkbox. But if you're sure the validation rules are all right then you
can uncheck it.
- Map column names used
in spreadsheet with column name of the database.
On [ Preview ] following message appears:
- Insert Validation Rules of Imported Trait for All the Sub-systems in the database.
Column
Suggestion: If validation rule of the Traits
in the source file is same for all the Sub-system, click on [ Yes ] which instruct
Katmandoo to copy the validation rules of the imported column for all the Sub-systems
in the database. Click [ No ] to import validation rules of the Traits for the Sub-system
in the source file only.
The default order of columns displayed can be changed by
editing the column list of the Misc Group
