Generate Trial Design of one or more Trials

In Katmandoo DiGGer is used to generate randomised trial design using the Trial Design Parameter values of the trial.

To design trial using DiGGer, the design type of the trial must use design software dks.dll and the DesignGenotypeFormat must be "GenotypeName|GenotypeId". Click here for more information.

In the Trial Main Form, use [ Record > Trial Design > Generate Trial Design of one or more Trials ] to activate following Generate Trial Design Form.

Illustrative snapshot of First Step:

1. Read this important note first
2. Select a year and then select trial type to list those trials that do not have their trial design data in database yet!
3. Click it to select all the listed trials that do NOT have trial design yet and have Trial Design Parameters (see 5) which are required to generate trial design using DiGGer.
4. Selected Trial row (and the trial design software that will be used to generate its trial design)
5. When mouse is moved over the trial, the trial design parameters are pop-uped.

Note: User can always click on [ Cancel ] to close the form to cancel generating trial design.

Illustrative snapshot of Second Step:

1. Selected genetypes using the Search Genotype component (which is activated when [ Next ] is clicked in the first step).
2. Select rows in the datagrid (5 rows selected in the snapshot) and change this value to update value of the [ Repeat per Rep ] column for the selected rows of the datagrid. Click here for more information on partial replicate trial design.
3. Click it to generate trial design using the Trial Design software (in this case DiGGer).  If trial designs are generated successfully, then it will ask to:
   • save Genotype list if the trial type of the trial does not have for the site year (of the trial). If answered yes, then it will save the Genotype list for the Trial Type / Year in the database.
   • close the form and start Import Trial Design wizard using the output file generated by DiGGer. If answered yes, then it closes the form and start Import Trial Design wizard with Import Trial Design using DiGGer output file option and DiGGer output file selected.
4. Click it to (close the form) to import the trial design using the output files generated by the trial design software.
5. Click it activate Search Genotype component to select genotypes to use with Trial Design software (in this case DiGGer) to generate the design of the trial.
6. Click it to copy input and output files generated by the trial design software to another folder.

Note: User can always click on [ Cancel ] to close the form without generating trial design.

Partial replicate can be entered in the second page Generate Trial Design Wizard.

• This option is available when ONLY ONE trial is selected in the first page Generate Trial Design Wizard.
• Select one or more datagrid rows or select all datagrid rows.
• Then change the [ Set Repeat per Rep ] value to change in the selected datagrid rows.

• Above message means that the Generate Trial Design Form is displaying one or more trials that can not be used by the form to generate trial design because of the explained reason.

• Above message means that there is not any trial in the database without trial design for the selected year and trial type.
