Sample Type

Sample type is a text descriptor that identifies the origin of a Sample Measurement. For example,

"quadrat": where a field plot has been subsampled at some point in the season for dry matter.
"flour sample": subsample of a batch of floure in a laboratory experiment
"fruit": sample of fruit from a tree
"fruit subsample": subsampling of fruit within a tree

If no sample type is specified, Katmandoo assigns an Unknown Sample Type.

Unknown Sample Type

The SampleType table has a record for Unknown Sample Type (Sample Type Name = Unknown Sample Type) which can be used when the sample type information is not available.

The string value of the "UnknownSampleTypeName" key in the .config file must match the Unknown Sample Type record in the Sample Type table. Please r ead important information before making any changes in the config file.

Column Name	Description
SampleTypeId (PK)	Identification Number that uniquely identifies a kind of sample
SampleTypeName (AK)	Name that uniquely identifies a kind of sample

SampleType tab in the data Dictionary has detailed information on the columuns used in SampleType table.

Use [ Task > Trial > Raw data > Manage Sample Type ] to load Sample Type Main Form with all the Sample types in the database.

The main form is displaying all the Sample types in the database (for all the sub-systems).
- Use [ View > Arrange columns in Main Form ] to change default order of displayed. Alternately it can be changed by editing the column list of the Misc Group SampleTypeSetupDataGrid.

To add/edit an Sample type, follow the steps below :

Select an Sample type in the Sample type main form to modify.
Use [ Record > Add Sample Type ] or [ Record > Edit Sample Type ] or [ Record > Repeat Sample Type ] to load the Sample Type Setup Form to add/edit a Sample type.

Export

Click on Export button in the main form or use [ Record > Export > Export Sample Type ] to start Export Wizard to export displayed Sample Types.

Import

Click on Import button in the main form or use [ Record > Import > Import Sample Type ] to start Import Wizard to import Sample Types from an external source file.
- The default order of columns displayed can be changed by editing the column list of the Misc Group SampleTypeSetupDataGrid.
